How to pay your University accommodation fees

Direct debit (UK bank account)

During your accommodation online induction, you will be required to set up a direct debit for your rent payments.

If you would like to change these details at any point, you can do so via your e:Vision account. This must be done at least 2 weeks before any payment is due.

Payment without a UK bank account

Students without a UK bank account may pay by bank card via your statement on your e:Vision account or through the University Online Payment System. You will need your student ID number (or the ID number of the student you are paying on behalf of) and date of birth to log in to the system.

Please note that we are not able to process credit or debit card payments made over the phone. Card payments can still be made in person at the Finance office on our York campus.

Responsibility for payment

You are personally responsible for ensuring that all accommodation fees are paid, irrespective of any arrangements you may have with other people (such as family members) to pay them on your behalf.

Advance rent payment

In University accommodation, the £200 payment made to secure your room is not a traditional deposit. The £200 is an advance rent payment which is then deducted from your first rent instalment.

I have an issue with my accommodation invoice

Your accommodation fee statement is a log of transactions. Your accommodation fee invoice should state outstanding fees and the dates they relate to. We try to ensure that all accommodation fee instalments are approximately equal. If a student arrived after Arrivals Weekend or has moved rooms to cheaper or more expensive accommodation during their tenancy then this can cause variation. You can look at current and previous invoices via e:Vision: https://evision.yorksj.ac.uk/live/sits.urd/run/siw_lgn
