Accommodation Tenancy Agreement
It is essential that you have read through and understood the Accommodation Terms and Conditions which you agreed to abide by when accepting your room offer, this is an important and legally binding agreement.
You are committing to the whole period of residence, so you may face charges or be liable for the full years accommodation fees if you terminate your agreement early without the University’s approval.
We recommend that you download a copy of the Terms and Conditions, and your room offer email that should have been sent to your personal or YSJ email after accepting your room offer. Keep these safe in case you need to refer to them in the future.

Start dates
Start and end dates of tenancies for university accommodation will vary each year. We will publish revised dates each academic year.
2026/2027 Academic Year
For first year students, all contracts start from Sunday, 20 September 2026. Students can move in from Saturday, 19 September 2026 at no extra charge. If you are a student on our Early Start programme, please contact the Disability Support and Inclusion Team by submitting a case through the Student Hub online portal.
For returning students, start dates will depend on your allocated property. These will be detailed in your room offer.
End dates
End dates (2025-26 academic year):
Baldwin House: 7 June 2026
City Residence: 26 July 2026
Garden Street: 26 July 2026
Grange House: 26 July 2026
Grange Townhouses: 26 July 2026
Limes Court: 26 July 2026
St John Central : 5 July 2026
University Managed Houses: Varies by property. You should have received an email to your York St John email address with your end of tenancy date. Please submit a case through the Student Hub online portal to ask for the date if you are unable to find any emails referencing your end of tenancy date.
If you are part of the Study Abroad Program, your tenancy will end 13 June 2026. If you want to enquire about staying longer in your accommodation, please raise a case on the Student Hub.

City Residence: 25 July 2027
Garden Street: 25 July 2027
Grange House: 25 July 2027
Grange Townhouses: 25 July 2027

If you are part of the Study Abroad Program, your tenancy will end slightly earlier than the date listed above. Your end of tenancy date will have been communicated to you when you accepted your room offer. Please save this email for your own records. If you want to enquire about your end of tenancy date, or about staying longer in your accommodation, please raise a case on the Student Hub.
