In most cases, we are able to accept students’ declarations about their needs as sufficient evidence when arranging reasonable adjustments. However, in situations where adjustments involve finite resources (e.g. studio accommodation, or blue-badge car parking spaces) or have a financial or practical implication for the University (provision of adapted desks or seating), we may request appropriate medical or professional evidence. This ensures that resources are allocated fairly, effectively, and in a way that meets the needs of all students. The table below shows the support that can be accessed, with and without evidence.  Accessing Disabled Students' Allowance will require you to have medical evidence. Additional information about DSA can be found on the Student Hub.

Evidence Support

If you want to discuss your evidence, diagnosis, or talk about how to get new evidence for DSA, please book a Service Coordinator Appointment through our Appointments booking section on the Student Hub portal.

If you think you may have a specific learning difficulty, you can use our online screener, QuickScreen, and we will then invite you to discuss the results with us.  Please use your student number and YSJ email address to access this screener.

To be assessed for ADHD or autism, you will need to go through your GP.
